The hallmark of Bassano del Grappa is the Ponte degli Alpini. Bassano combines medieval architecture with buildings of the Venetian era and is a jewel in the province of Vicenza. The area is also known for its tradition of making pottery and DOC products, especially Grappa. Just a few minutes from the Bassano del Grappa, Marostica is enclosed within the walls of its castles. The great effect of the walls running from the hill above and down to the heart of the town, connecting the upper castle to the lower castle is an amazing sight. Marostica is famous for its chess game first played here in the 15th century, the main square of the town is an enormous chessboard.
